At EV Biotech, we are looking for an enthusiastic Business developer who is responsible for sales revenue in the Personal Care segment. The Personal Care segment should account for 40-60% of the company revenues from 2024. This role requires experience in the commercialization of services; ideally in the sector of strain engineering and/or fermentation that EV Biotech operates in.

Reporting line: The Business developer bears responsibility to the CEO

Compensation: Market-driven salary with a performance-based bonus system.

Daily responsibility

The Business developer is responsible for revenue generation in the Personal Care segment. They work at the Sales division within EV Biotech and maintain external contacts with prospects, (potential) customers and third parties outside the organization in the context of sales & service activities. As a market expert, they will be responsible for translating market and customer needs into strain engineering services.

 Specific responsibilities Acquisition new customers:

  • Realizes agreements with prospects to promote EV Biotech
  • Managing and following up on customer appointments and inquiries
  • Collaborating with the R&D team to develop solution-based proposals and takes care of the follow-up
  • Coordinates quotation processes
  • Organize and execute sales activities
  • Organizes and realizes commercial service provision (mailings)
  • Creates, develops and realizes new sales activities
  • Creates customer files within the used CRM environment of EV Biotech and ensures that all relevant information/documents are in the file and up-to-date
  • New customers are provided with relevant information
  • Actively seek new national and international partnerships 
  • Negotiate, close and execute commercial agreements
  • Collaborate with members of the sales team to guide and coordinate business development-related activities with other groups and functions across the organization
  • Speak and meet with industry leaders at conferences and events
  • Support special projects, as requested
  • Ability to travel, including internationally

Relationship management:

  • Regularly maintains contact with existing customers about service and satisfaction;
  • Continues discussions with customers about developments and possible expansion of the service;
  • Signs complaints and dissatisfaction with customers at an early stage and resolves them;
  • Does improvement proposals to optimize (internal) processes to fit better customer needs;

Pre-sales activities:

  • Provides documentation and price information;
  • Provides up-to-date information that can be used on the EV Biotech website;
  • Contributes to the development of sales materials such as web-based brochures;
  • Creates and realizes innovative sales methods for the services of EV Biotech

Product and market innovation:

  • Indicates market developments
  • Has knowledge of the laws and regulations as effective for the services of EV Biotech in the Personal Care market
  • Signals changes that result in opportunities
  • Makes proposals regarding new and improved services and processes

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences/biology or related field minimum 8 years relevant experience OR Master’s degree + 5 years, MBA a plus
  • Business experience in the Personal Care market

Preferred Capabilities and Experience

  • Personal Care market understanding (including key regulatory aspects)
  • Relevant network within the market segment
  • Basic understanding of strain engineering and/or fermentation and/or computational biology
  • Passion for collaboration and significant experience in relationship-building, and leveraging and converting market knowledge and relationships into business opportunities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively conveying technical and complex information between cross-functional teams and with external partners
  • Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and an ability to work across organizational boundaries
