About EV Biotech:
EV Biotech is a biotechnology company that creates microbial production platforms for high-value chemicals and proteins using computational modelling and microorganisms. By combining classical fermentation methods with the latest developments in modelling approaches we have revolutionised the methods of microbial strain engineering. Our microbial cells factories (MCFs) provide effective, bio-based alternatives to conventional chemical-synthetic production processes. Our Groningen-based team has been operational since July 2018 and is dedicated to EV’s mission to evolve the chemical feedstock market by shifting it from petrochemical-based to bio-based chemical production, thereby creating a greener economy for all.
We are looking for a Product Manager – Microbial Cell Factories to strengthen our Wet Lab team (40 h per week).
Scope of the position:
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for managing all aspects of EV’s products. Your main responsibility is to ensure that the products are delivered on time and within budget. You have a high level understanding and overview of EV’s entire MCF development cycle (from modelling to fermentation) and ensure that products are developed accordingly. You are product manager of all running projects and will serve as the contact person for customers during running co-development projects, for more technical communications.
- Structure and maintain EV’s product development cycle and ensure that wet-lab and dry-lab operations are aligned;
Optimise the product development cycle by incorporating scientific and business input.
Manage all running projects, both in-house proof-of-concept strains and co-development projects;
Write monthly project update reports;
Be the customer contact person during the projects;
Contribute to the daily operations in the Wet Lab;
Liaison between Wet Lab, Dry Lab and business team;
Be team manager of the Wet Lab team: coach the individual members, help with time management, structure their tasks.
- PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular Cell Biology, or related discipline;
At least four years of experience in industrial biotech;
Background in strain engineering;
Experience with fermentation and upscaling;
Experience in computational biology is a plus;
Excellent interpersonal and management skills to communicate effectively within the team and with customers;
Excellent communication and presentation skills;
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
